We began the day with breakfast, and a lovely travel to Mount Kurama where one of the trains we rode had seats facing the window. Had we gone to Japan a little later, I'm sure the foliage would've made for a beautiful train show.
When we got to Kurama Station, we knew the truth: it was freakin' hot, and humid.
Getting to the mountain was easy peasy, but getting up the mountain made me want to die. Eventually we got to the main temple, patted ourselves on the back, and decided we needed to reward ourselves by going to Kurama Onsen, so we took the cable car down and saw the devastation of what I'm assuming was from the recent typhoon.
We walked to Kurama Onsen, and thought how strange it was that it seemd like the town was still asleep at 11:00am. At Kurama Onsen, a gentleman helped us press the appropriate buttons for a ticket, towel, and hand towel (that we could take home). The onsen was gendered, so we gave ourselves 45 minutes to simmer in the water, and then reconvene. It was so relaxing, sitting in the hot water, and looking up at the view of the mountains, completely naked. I may have overdone sitting in the onsen, though, considering the already hot weather.
At Demachiyanagi Station, we had this soft, green, melon pan that I am convinced would be delicious with Cheez Wiz. Upon our return to our AirBnb, we passed by Fushimi Inari food street again to try out Wagyu beef, and a giant crab stick. The Wagyu beef was only 3/10. The crab sitck was a 9/10. We then decided we were early enough that we could look for an AirBnb experience to book, and we decided on an experience offered by Ramen Factory Kyoto to make our own ramen from scratch!
We made ramen from scratch, and I ended up bruising my knuckles from punching the dough. Making ramen was A+++, but eating our ramen was even more A+++++++++++. We walked home after because we feared not passing Japan's Health Checkup, and we dodged many mosquitoes. We got home and prepped for an early start the next day.
